In this compilation from The Collection on Gibson TV, an all-star lineup of world-famous guitarists shows us some of their favorite Gibson Les Paul™ guitars, some of which are incredibly rare and unique.

In this Gibson TV exclusive supercut, legendary players including Joe Bonamassa, Mike Campbell, Slash, Brad Whitford, Kirk Hammett, Peter Frampton, Jason Isbell, and Rick Nielsen open up their collections to show Mark Agnesi some of the rarest and most iconic Gibson Les Paul guitars ever made—each one with a story you won’t believe.

Watch Joe Bonamassa show Mark Agnesi his 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard “Lazarus”—a once candy-apple red refin discovered under decades of paint—to Slash’s 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard “First Burst,” one of the very first sunburst Les Pauls ever made, this episode is packed with historic instruments and incredible backstories.

Hear Mike Campbell explain how his 1968 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop became his main Gibson in the early years playing with Tom Petty—used on songs like “Fooled Again,” “Stranger in the Night,” and even doubling the solo on “Listen to Her Heart.”

Brad Whitford dives deep into his three-pickup 1959 Gibson Les Paul Custom, and Kirk Hammett shares stories about his 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard that has some battle scars.

Peter Frampton walks us through his Peter Frampton Gibson Les Paul Signature model and explains why he relies on the 500T pickup for “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” while Jason Isbell reveals one of the rarest factory red 1960 Gibson Les Paul Custom guitars ever made—originally built for the Swedish Hagstrom shop.

And Rick Nielsen brings it full circle with his well-loved 1955 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop—bought in 1965 for just $65.
