Not just a collector of vintage guitars, Slash also brings out his limited-edition 2020 Jimi Hendrix™ Flying V™. Gifted to him by his partner, watch as he talks about how he was “blown away” by its sound and playability. “It’s a remarkable guitar,” he says. “I used it on two songs on the last record (Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators), including one with a talk box. It was perfect—it splits the difference between a Les Paul™ and single coils.”

He explains that the Flying V offered something different from his usual setup: “It’s a little bit cleaner than, you know, my regular Les Paul. But it has great sustain.” The unique feel of the neck also stood out to him. “It’s actually smaller than what I’m used to… It’s got a great sort of thumb-over kind of capability.”

This guitar found its perfect moment on the track “C’est La Vie” from 4, the fourth studio album by Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators. “Sometimes a Les Paul can make the talk box a little bit too distorted,” Slash says. “This just nailed it.” After installing a set of his own pickups, the guitar earned its spot in his live arsenal: “Yeah, this is coming out on the road with me. For sure.”
