This may sound cliche, but it is 100% true:

When you're writing a song, or a solo, or any piece of music on your guitar... sometimes less is more.

See, music isn't just about the notes you play, it's also about the spaces between the notes you play. That's why some of the most memorable guitar songs are actually pretty easy to play: a few notes or chords spaced out the right way will sound a lot more musical than 100 notes that aren't.

"Less is more" also works great for collaboration, because it leaves room for your bandmates to fill in the spaces with their own creative input.
