Joe Bonamassa discusses how it all began—spending his first communion money on a Cry Baby® wah pedal and eventually buying the one guitar he had a poster of on his bedroom wall as a child. Paul Stanley of KISS shares how, in the 1970s, he began collecting with the goal of owning a great example of each guitar he loved, and how his collection started with a sunburst 1958 Gibson Les Paul™ Standard with cream humbucker™ pickups.

Slash recalls needing more tools during the making of the Use Your Illusion records with Guns N’ Roses and picking up a 1958 Gibson Flying V™ for the song “Knocking on Heaven’s Door”—a moment that marked the start of his collection, even if unintentionally. Kirk Hammett talks about owning just a handful of Gibson guitars during Metallica's Ride the Lightning sessions and how his guitar collecting habit really began during Master of Puppets and …And Justice For All, when he bought a black Gibson Les Paul Custom.

Peter Frampton talks about losing guitars and the guitars that are still on his wishlist, while Charlie Starr discusses chasing vintage Gibson Les Paul Junior guitars from city to city, with help from his “expensive group of friends.” Rick Nielsen recalls trading a Gibson SG™ and $25 for a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard—serial number 9 1864—which he eventually sold to Jeff Beck.
