What if the most iconic photos of Eddie Van Halen were nearly lost forever?

In this clip from Through The Lens, legendary rock photographer Neil Zlozower
recounts the incredible moment he discovered a treasure trove of "lost" Eddie Van Halen images and a collection of Eddie Van Halen pictures he hadn’t seen in over 40 years. What began as a few memorable frames from the Van Halen II sessions turned into more than 50 never-before-seen photographs, buried in an auction lot tied to their former manager.

Zlozower shares how he was tipped off by fellow photographer Michael Strider, stunned to find a full set of negatives once believed to be locked away by Warner Bros. The discovery? Iconic, raw portraits of Eddie in his prime which he captured during a feverish time of creativity, chaos, and rock 'n' roll history.

These aren’t just any photos of Eddie Van Halen they’re artifacts from Van Halen’s explosive rise, from bomb-shaped gear cases and backstage antics to barefoot performances and untamed energy. Watch as Neil reflects on Eddie’s unmatched style, his shyness behind the lens, and the effortless genius that separated him from the rest.
