In this short from the full episode of Through the Lens, legendary photographer Neil Zlozower looks back on the first two Van Halen shows he ever shot extensively, which were the San Diego Sports Arena and Long Beach Arena shows at the end of the now legendary 1978 tour.

At the time, Van Halen was still rising, and the band didn’t yet fill entire venues. But through Neil’s lens, what he captured was pure energy, raw, unfiltered Van Halen, where the band were really making a name for themselves on the live circuit and a guitarist by the name of Eddie Van Halen was tearing up stages and turning heads with his incredible guitar work.
