Day 19 of the Tones For Tache campaign in support of Movember 2014. For more on Movember, please go here http://uk.movember.com/
Fender's recently upgraded California Series acoustic range includes this limited edition Malibu CE Mustang, complete with cool competition stripe over Lake Placid Blue - reviewed in the latest edition of Guitarist Presents Acoustic, on sale December 3rd 2014.
It's a small body electro-acoustic albeit with a 643mm scale length and a dovetail-joined Strat-style maple neck and headstock. It's fitted with a Fishman Isys III preamp, driven by a Sonicore under saddle pickup.
In this demo, Mick plays every sound you can hear in the track on this guitar: banging the body for drums; E string tuned down to A for the bass - muted with a rock'n'roll cloth, of course.
The acoustic strumming is recorded with the GT57 mic you can see, while the bass parts and electric-style melody are using the under saddle pickup through Mick's pedalboard and into a Vox AC15 combo.
The only non-guitar sound is the silica gel packet (found in the body of the guitar) that we use as a shaker. How about that for upcycling!?
Enjoy this, and in the meantime, please visit the Tones For Tache official Movember donation page. http://uk.movember.com/mospace/10121553
