In the 1940s, during wartime, “an amazing fleet of female luthiers developed” at Gibson. That team introduced the J-45™ in 1942—an instrument that would go on to become one of Gibson’s most cherished models. These banner-era acoustics, proudly marked with “Only a Gibson is good enough,” were built by the women known in the history books as the “Gibson gals.”

That spirit of craftsmanship lives on in Bozeman, Montana, where a team of dedicated builders continues to craft exceptional guitars. As it’s shared in the episode, “their finer touch and just probably more rational approach to instrument making overall makes those instruments even more special.”

Watch The Process to see how every hand that shapes a Gibson contributes to its lasting legacy.
