When I was a kid, I thought compression was cheating. Like people used it because they couldn't play well enough.

That's not true.

Here's what a compressor actually does:

✅ Balances out your notes
✅ Makes hammer-ons and pull-offs more even
✅ Elevates quieter notes so everything sits in the center
✅ No really loud or really quiet notes—just balanced tone

If you do a pull-off and it's a little quiet, the compressor brings it up. Everything becomes more balanced.

It's a really cool tool for guitar players to have available.
