Kirk shares how he acquired the guitar after already owning the legendary “Greeny” Les Paul, and why this particular Les Paul immediately stood out to him the instant he plugged it into an amplifier and started playing.

Watch as Kirk breaks down what makes this guitar unique, from its unmistakable “chainsaw”-like distorted tone to the unusual wear patterns across the neck, all battle scars that make this 1958 Les Paul one of a kind.

Hear the story behind the now-infamous piece of blue tape still on the guitar, left there from a quick studio fix when Kirk needed to secure the output jack mid-session. Kirk also discusses how he feels that even the most valuable vintage guitars are meant to be played.

Kirk also reflects on Gary Moore’s connection to the instrument and how Kirk learned that Gary “recorded a bunch of singles” on it, which is now in Kirk’s impressive collection.
