In today's fingerstyle guitar lesson we learn how to play "Mad World" by Michael Andrews and Gary Jules. Originally written and released by Tears For Fears, this song was again made popular 20 years later for the film Donnie Darko. This lesson takes us from beginner to advanced. We start with a beginner-friendly fingerstyle pattern throughout the whole song which uses only four chords. Then, we learn the hook in a solo guitar approach where we essentially play the piano part on guitar. We do this in two octaves before jumping into a more advanced approach of chord melody where we play the sung melody on the guitar in two octaves.
