In today's guitar lesson we start a new series, "Lick of the Day". In Ep. 1, the season premiere, I go over a main lick and then two variations over an MT Guitar created backing track. It's essential to create a vocabulary of licks that you can understand and then tweak for your own improvisation. When you learn a lick, you should always strive to make variations so that it can become part of your lead playing.
