Huey Lewis has long been part of rock and roll’s DNA and its mythology. In this special message, he reflects on the man who started it all: Chuck Berry.

As Huey explains, “Chuck Berry sort of created rock and roll more than any other one person… he was the first singer-songwriter, the first guy to write songs for kids.” From “School Day (Ring! Ring! Goes the Bell)” to “Johnny B. Goode,” Chuck’s legacy shaped the soundtrack of a generation—and became the heartbeat of Back to the Future’s most unforgettable moment.

That moment—Marty McFly on stage at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance—was powered by a Gibson ES-345™, an instrument now shrouded in mystery. The original Cherry Red guitar used during filming vanished after 1985, and no one has seen it since.
