Join us at 8pm Eastern time starting on July 21st for SIX weeks!

These next six weeks are going to get you comfortably moving around the neck using simple scale patterns AND using your ears in a whole new way. That’s right, we’re going to start learning how to improvise! For most beginner guitar players, improvisation sounds incredibly scary. You may think of 10-minute Prog Rock songs, or your favorite Jam Band and think “I could never learn how to go on and on for a 6 minute guitar solo”. It’s true that there are many masters of improv out there, but the underlying mindset and skillset necessary to improvise is something that every beginner guitar player should learn.

It is actually quite simple: Learn a handful of scales, and practice playing over chord progressions. We’re going to work on one new scale pattern per week, and learn how to practice each pattern for maximum fun when “making it up as you go along”. Our goal here isn’t to cover EVERY scale pattern within any one subset of scales. Instead, you’ll get a sampling of different patterns with different sounds, and in different places on the neck. You’ll also learn the most effective ways to practice scales for the most musical value!
