In this guitar lesson video, Steve Stine discusses how to learn to "listen" to a scale when playing it over a chord.
Often times, we don't really listen to each note of a scale, and how it actually interacts with the chord(s) we are playing over, so we just sort of "meander" around hoping things sound interesting, and that it all works out.
It's worth taking a little time to develop your ear training, and understanding how notes of a scale, and the chords you are playing over, interact with each other, finding what sounds good or bad, comfortable or uncomfortable, to YOU.
