There is a difference between having a music career within the spectrum of the music industry, and actually making a living in the music industry.

Diversify!

Often, what needs to be done are 3 things:
1. Think outside the box of what you percieve to be the music industry
2. Play to your strengths
3. Don’t burn bridges

Not every musician can simply make a living performing or writing. Many times, we need to find alternate ways to supplement our income, but we can STILL work in the industry itself, we just have to be aware what other opportunities are out there, and how to capitalize on the options.
Think of these 4 categories:
1. Education
2. Performance
3. Writing/Composing
4. The Industry itself

There are literally hundreds of jobs in the industry. They may not all be exactly what you were dreaming of as a youth, but they CAN help to supplement your dreams and offer job opportunities that are both enjoyable and generate income as you pursue the next level.
