For today's edition of Pink Floyd Friday we look at "Breathe" from Dark Side of the Moon. We dive into a complete breakdown of the song including the musical, lyrical, historical, and conceptual backstory of the opening song of one of the best selling albums of all time (the opening track, "Speak to Me", is meant as an introductory overture for the entire album). Dark Side of the Moon is one of the few albums where Waters and Gilmour, and the entire band, were in lyrical and musical harmony together in the songwriting and recording process.
