Did you know Slash once had a Gibson Firebird™ signature model? Did you grab one of these rare birds?
▶ Watch The Collection: Slash: https://youtu.be/Z64Y-pjZw2E

In this exclusive clip from Gibson TV’s The Collection, Slash is with Mark Agnesi to take a closer look at one of the earliest prototypes from his Gibson Firebird signature project: Prototype #2.

While Slash has always loved vintage Firebirds, he explains why the traditional Firebird pickups didn’t always work for him in a live setting. Looking for a guitar that could deliver the feel and look of a classic Firebird while better fitting his stage rig, Slash worked with Gibson to develop a modified version featuring Seymour Duncan pickups and his preferred neck profile.

Watch as Slash shares the origins of the project, revealing how performing material from Chinese Democracy inspired him to explore a different sound on stage and how that search for a new sound resulted in a unique Firebird design, combining classic Firebird styling with one major modification in the form of full-size humbucker pickups.

Along the way, Slash discusses the differences between studio and live guitars, why he loves the Gibson Firebird, how Firebirds remain an important part of his incredible guitar collection, and how this signature model evolved from a simple touring idea into a full Gibson Custom project with the team at Gibson Custom. This is a really cool look at one of the lesser-known guitars in Slash’s collection and one of the lesser-known Slash signature models, too.

Ever wondered how to play Evil New War God by The Melvins? Or what the actual tuning for the song Evil New War God really is? In this exclusive clip from Riff Lords, Buzz Osborne breaks down one of the most distinctive and crushing riffs in his extensive catalog, showing you exactly how he plays Evil New War God live, including all the intricacies and subtle nuances that make his riffs and guitar parts in the song so iconic. And yes, he also shows you exactly how to tune your guitar so your version sounds just like the record.

Evil New War God remains one of The Melvins’ defining songs, and a perfect showcase of Buzz’s uniquely heavy style of playing, but it has always evaded guitarists when it comes to getting the correct tuning and the subtle nuances of how it’s actually played.

In this Evil New War God guitar lesson, Buzz demonstrates the guitar parts that make up the song, walking you through the massive riffs, the picking dynamics, and the techniques you need to nail the feel and weight of the track.

Buzz also opens up about his playing style and approach, discussing how tone, attack, and interaction with the amplifier shape the massive sound The Melvins are known for.

He explains how his technique on the Les Paul Custom drives the song’s signature heaviness, and why the relationship between the guitar and the amp is central to everything he does.

If you’re a Melvins fan, a Buzz Osborne fan, or simply looking for the ultimate guitar lesson on Evil New War God, this is a must-watch from the guitarist who wrote it.
When does Charlie Starr reach for a humbucker™ guitar instead of a P-90? What makes this particular vintage Gibson ES-335TDC in his collection so special?

In this clip from Gibson TV’s The Collection, Charlie Starr of Blackberry Smoke is with Mark Agnesi to look at one of his favorite guitars–a one-owner 1964 Gibson ES-335TDC from Louisville, Kentucky, with some very unusual wear. Originally played for decades by its first owner, this vintage guitar comes with all the original case candy, including the original bill of sale.

Watch as Charlie and Mark examine the guitar’s unique history, including its time spent sitting in a barn, and the original purchase paperwork showing it sold for just $330 with a Bigsby® upgrade. Along the way, Charlie explains why the 1963-1964 ES-335 specification is his personal favorite and discusses how semi-hollow guitars became an important part of his sound in Blackberry Smoke alongside his signature Gibson Les Paul™ Junior.

Charlie also shares how a Gibson ES-345 gifted to him by friend Ray sparked a deeper connection with ES™-style guitars, how songs like “Waiting for the Thunder” inspired him to reach for humbuckers instead of his usual P-90 guitars, and what it was like touring alongside Duane Betts as both played original 1964 Gibson ES-335 guitars.

If you love vintage guitars, especially Gibson ES guitars, Blackberry Smoke, and great vintage guitar tales, this video is perfect for you.
▶ Shop The Collection: Slash – The premium coffee table book: https://bit.ly/3PZ1UUM
▶ Watch The Collection: Slash: https://youtu.be/Z64Y-pjZw2E

In this exclusive clip from The Collection on Gibson TV, Slash sits down with Mark Agnesi to discuss how and when he started collecting guitars. For those who don’t know, Slash has one of the most impressive collections of historic and rare guitars, including a large number of Gibson electric guitars and signature models. But how did it all start?

While many fans assume Slash was always a collector, he reveals that in the early days of Guns N’ Roses, he owned only a few guitars and purchased instruments purely out of necessity. As the band worked on the ambitious Use Your Illusion albums, Slash found himself searching for specific sounds to suit different songs, leading him to acquire a variety of guitars that would eventually become mainstays, regularly used onstage and in the studio.

Watch as Slash recalls purchasing a rare ’58 Korina Flying V™, a guitar that would become responsible for one of his favorite recorded tones and feature prominently on “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.” He also shares how his vintage Gibson Black Beauty helped shape the sound of the Use Your Illusion era.

The conversation also explores Slash’s fascination with the legendary Korina Gibson models. Hear how he first became aware of the rarity and collectibility of Korina Flying V and Explorer™ guitars, why he ultimately acquired multiple examples, and what makes their sound so different from the Gibson Les Paul™ guitars he is most closely associated with.

If you’ve ever wondered how Slash’s guitar collection began, or why vintage Korina guitars remain some of the most sought-after instruments ever produced, this is a fascinating look into the guitars, tones, and discoveries that helped shape one of rock’s most iconic players.

In this clip from Season 2 of The Process, we take a closer look at one of the most important aspects of acoustic guitar construction, which is applying nitrocellulose lacquer to your Gibson acoustic guitar.

Watch as the team at Gibson Acoustic’s Bozeman, Montana, craftory explains how different nitrocellulose lacquer applications affect the feel, appearance, aging process, and tonal characteristics of Gibson acoustic guitars. From the lightweight finish of the G-Collection to the vintage-inspired treatment used on Historic models, every finish is carefully designed to serve a specific purpose and have a unique sound.

Learn how Gibson Acoustic utilizes four distinct nitrocellulose lacquer applications across its acoustic lineup and why each guitar receives a different number of coats. Discover why G-Collection guitars receive a light three-coat finish, how the Faded Collection achieves its smooth satin feel, and why Modern and Original Collection models receive a full gloss seven-coat finish.

You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes tour of the Gibson acoustic craftory, see the people who make your Gibson acoustic guitar, and see how your guitar is made using traditional and modern techniques to ensure incredible playability and tonality.

The clip also explores the philosophy behind Gibson Acoustic Historic models. By applying approximately half the amount of lacquer used on a traditional gloss-finished guitar, these instruments are designed to capture some of the tonal characteristics associated with vintage acoustics. Combined with a hand-rubbed VOS finish, the result is a guitar that looks, feels, and responds like an instrument that has matured over decades.

Finally, learn why finish thickness plays such a critical role in the sound of your acoustic guitar, how too little lacquer can compromise durability, while too much can restrict the guitar’s natural resonance.

The Process is Gibson TV’s award-winning docuseries that takes viewers behind the scenes at our Bozeman, Montana acoustic craftory. Through interviews with the talented craftspeople who build these instruments every day, the series explores the techniques, technologies, and traditions that make Gibson acoustic guitars some of the most respected instruments in the world.

▶ Watch the full episode HERE: https://youtu.be/7rGXLz5eFpw
▶ Learn more about Timothy White here: https://timothywhite.com/

In this clip from Through The Lens, acclaimed Hollywood, music, advertising, and fashion photographer Timothy White shares the incredible story behind one of the most memorable Eddie Van Halen photo shoots of his career…the time he set Eddie Van Halen’s hands on fire.

As a photographer shooting for Rolling Stone, Timothy was always searching for a concept that would stand out on a newsstand while still maintaining artistic integrity. During a Monsters of Rock cover shoot, he devised elaborate visual concepts for the band Van Halen, including custom-made contact lenses that transformed the musicians into larger-than-life characters. But for Eddie Van Halen, Timothy wanted something even more dramatic.

Growing up idolizing guitar heroes like Eric Clapton and Eddie Van Halen himself, rock photographer and fan Timothy saw Eddie as the defining guitarist of the moment. Everyone knows that Eddie was an innovative player whose speed, energy, and style felt completely unique, so how could he capture that? Looking for a way to capture that intensity in a single image, he came up with a bold idea: what if Eddie played so fast that his hands literally burst into flames?

With the help of a special effects expert and professional stunt safety techniques, Timothy brought the concept to life for real. Using protective gel and controlled effects, Eddie’s hands were set on fire while Timothy captured long-exposure photographs designed to visualize the speed and ferocity of his playing. It was a high-risk creative gamble that produced an unforgettable and iconic image of Eddie Van Halen and remains one of Timothy’s coolest stories from photographing the band and his incredible career capturing iconic moments of bands.

Through The Lens is a Gibson TV original series that explores the untold stories behind some of music’s most legendary images, told by the photographers who captured them.

▶ Watch the full episode of Riff Lords with Billy Howerdel HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64IzbxVpV2E

Ever wondered how to play the iconic opening riff to Judith by A Perfect Circle? In this exclusive clip from Riff Lords, Billy Howerdel breaks down one of the most challenging and recognizable riffs in his extensive catalog, showing you exactly how he plays Judith live, including all the intricacies and subtle nuances that make his riffs and lead lines in the song so iconic.

Judith remains one of A Perfect Circle’s defining songs, and according to Billy, it’s also one of the most unique songs he’s ever written. Composed in a single sitting, the song quickly evolved from a drum-machine idea into a fully realized track that exploded to life once A Perfect Circle began rehearsing it together as a band.

In this Judith guitar lesson, Billy demonstrates the various guitar parts that make up Judith, including the intricate opening riff as well as the subtle palm mutes that you need to get right, the heavy rhythm section, the sliding octave melodies, and the signature slide guitar lead. He explains why the opening riff is one of the hardest parts he’s written, requiring minimal picking hand movement while relying heavily on hammer-ons, slides, finger strength, and dynamic control to keep the whole thing from falling apart.

Billy also opens up about his playing technique, discussing how volume, touch, and interaction with the amplifier are essential to achieving the song’s signature feel and sustain. Learn why feedback plays such an important role in his live performances and how he uses picking dynamics almost like a volume pedal to shape the sound.

You’ll also discover how Billy approaches the song’s heavier sections, why he avoids drop tunings, and how layering guitar parts creates the massive sound heard on the original recording as featured on their 2000 album Mer De Noms.

If you’re an A Perfect Circle fan, a Billy Howerdel fan, or simply looking for the ultimate guitar lesson on Judith by A Perfect Circle, this is a must-watch lesson from the guitarist who actually wrote the song and the iconic riffs for Judith.
Dave also talks about the “trinity” of rhythm guitarists in metal: Malcolm Young, James Hetfield of Metallica, and himself. He explains why he thinks they’re the best suited for the job of defining the sound of heavy metal. And listen as he describes some of his favorite lead guitar players, too.
ABOUT MAESTRO
Maestro, the founder of effects, created the world’s first fuzz pedal in 1962 - the Maestro Fuzz-Tone FZ-1. It set the entire guitar pedal world into motion and changed modern music forever. Maestro’s influence has shaped music as we know it, from The Rolling Stones to the Raconteurs, Pete Townshend to George Harrison, Clapton to Frampton, and the Foo Fighters to the Black Keys. Maestro has been there from the beginning to help artists achieve their signature sound. When Gibson brought Maestro into the world 60 years ago, no one could have predicted its trailblazing success. Now, after decades, Gibson has revived the brand, and a revitalized Maestro that leverages its iconic past and leans into an innovative future has returned to help a new generation of musicians shape their sound.

Calling all sonic sculptors, your tools have arrived. And now it’s time to make new legends. Maestro, the legendary Founder of Effects, is back with an all-new line of pedals - the Maestro Original Collection - that are designed to help you Shape Your Sound.

In this video, Maestro’s Dinesh Lekhraj takes a look at and demonstrates the all-new Maestro Discoverer Delay. This all-analog pedal uses classic bucket brigade technology for warm, organic analog delay tones. A flip of the Mode toggle switch engages the built-in modulation that applies anything from a tape-like wow and flutter effect to heavy pitch modulation on the delayed signal. If you are looking for an easy-to-use classic analog delay, with extended functionality under the hood, letting you go from slapback, medium-length delays, and tape-like vibes with the additional controls for the modulation parameters, look no further - this is the box for you.

The Discoverer Delay is part of the Maestro Original Collection. This line of five new pedals is designed, voiced, and styled for the musician who is looking to shape their own unique sound. A tribute to the sound and style of the brand’s much-beloved classic models from the 60s and 70s, with modern features, expanded versatility, and advanced tone-tweaking capabilities.

Calling all sonic sculptors, your tools have arrived. And now it’s time to make new legends. Maestro, the legendary Founder of Effects, is back with an all-new line of pedals - the Maestro Original Collection - that are designed to help you Shape Your Sound.

In this video, Maestro’s Dinesh Lekhraj takes a look at and demonstrates the all-new Maestro Fuzz-Tone FZ-M. Maestro created the first fuzz pedal, and here we bring it back in an all-analog two-in-one design including that classic 60s FZ-1 tone as well as a thicker more modern fuzz voicing, giving you a wide range of capabilities in one box. If you are looking for a vintage-inspired fuzz pedal with the capabilities to hit modern tones and everything else in between, here is your box of choice. Venture out from bright and raspy tones to warm and wooly within the flick of a switch and a simple turn of the tone dial.

The Fuzz-Tone FZ-M is part of the Maestro Original Collection.

In this video, Emily Wolfe and Maestro’s Dinesh Lekhraj take a look at and demonstrate the all-new Maestro Ranger Overdrive. Inspired by some of the world’s most cherished vintage tube amps, the Ranger is a warm, organic, and very amp-like overdrive. It’s especially touch-sensitive and responds to your playing nuances and can clean up nicely with your volume control. Because of its transparency, it stacks well and can be easily used as an always-on pedal for adding extra sweetness. With two modes you get a wide range of capabilities in one box. If you are looking for a versatile easy to dial-in overdrive that is responsive and interactive with your playing, has two voicings, this box has you covered. Go from a transparent clean boost all the way to big and warm higher saturated overdrive tones perfect for making your leads stand out or for hitting the front end of a tube amp harder for a little more grit and sustain.

The Ranger Overdrive is part of the Maestro Original Collection. This line of five new pedals is designed, voiced, and styled for the musician who is looking to shape their own unique sound.
